Successful Allergy-Friendly School Party!

I’m not the only food-cop mom in my 4th grader’s class! The teacher declared she would provide a list of approved foods for all parties, period. The sign up sheet was simple: fruit, popcorn, cheese, and the teacher would bake.

I think it went well. Everybody ate, it looked festive, and we had sweets–GF cupcakes (King Arthur Flour’s Gluten-Free Chocolate Cake Mix is the BEST!!!) and GF rice crispie treats. Best of all: there were no meltdowns in our classroom party! It was the best school party I’ve been to in 5 years at that school.

Incidentally–coincidently??–the biggest meltdown occurred in the classroom with the wildest food and decorations. And it was the room mom’s kid.

But there was one mom who snuck in a regular cookie covered in sprinkles for her daughter. No clue why she couldn’t wait for the ride home. I guess there’s always one …

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween!
