My favorite new cooking oil — avocado!

IMG_3212-0

I started experimenting with unusual cooking oils–meaning not strictly seed oils and non-GMO–when my oldest son was younger and allergic to everything. Yeah, I know, they say the allergen is the protein and oil should be fine…but that’s not how it seems to play out in real life. My mom’s been rushed to the emergency room after consuming peanut oil and I flat out throw up anything made with coconut oil.

I had been using itty bitty bottles of avocado oil every now and then from Whole Foods, but stumbled across this baby a couple of months ago at Costco. It has a high smoke point, is non-GMO, and has a light flavor. I’ve used it to make fries, yuca pizza dough, brownies, and salad dressing. Two thumbs up! Jen at Predominantly Paleo (the source of the pizza dough recipe!) and the Paleo Parents use it and recommend it.

You can find it here, order it here, or look for it in your local Costco.
