This is a recipe mashup. I took the Bacon Sweet Potato Turkey Burger recipe from The Foodie and the Family and subbed out the cinammon for a heapin’ helpin’ of Savory Spice Mix from Practical Paleo. (Did you order your copy yet??) My Whole Foods had some sugar free bacon (the butcher SWORE it was sugar free, but now I’m not believing… Damn! I’m on a Whole30.)
First, I made a hash by cooking the chopped bacon, added minced onion, then the shredded sweet potatoes and 1 T savory spice mix. When it was done I put it in a pyrex dish and stuck it in the freezer to cool off. I mixed the turkey (I used 1.5 lbs) with one beaten egg, and when the hash was cooled off, added it to the meat, plus another 1 T. Mixed it thoroughly with my hands and then made patties.
Delish! My 5 yr old ate 4. I may put this one into heavy rotation.
